Dr. Jonathan Mastrobattista, D.C.
Dr. Jonathan Mastrobattista's roots lie in Bernardsville, where he attended Far Hills Country Day before graduating from Bernards High. Engaging in football, wrestling, and track, he fostered a passion for physical wellness early on. Pursuing his academic journey, he earned bachelor's degrees in Animal Science and Biology in Texas before obtaining his doctor of chiropractic degree at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis. Following a year in Vacaville, California, he returned to New Jersey, establishing his practice in 1985.Dedicated to constant growth, Dr. Mastrobattista diligently pursues advanced education in chiropractic, frequently attending diverse post-graduate courses. He shares his expertise as a speaker in various chiropractic forums. Adhering to the traditional chiropractic philosophy, Dr. Mastrobattista focuses on subluxation and spinal structural correction. Subluxation, a misaligned vertebra disrupting nerve impulses to and from the brain, affects bodily functions. By addressing this interference, the body gains improved functionality and potential self-healing capabilities. While Dr. Mastrobattista aims for swift relief for his patients, his paramount goal is eliminating nerve interference (subluxation) and restoring the spine to optimal biomechanical alignment. Achieving this involves a comprehensive rehabilitation regimen encompassing adjustments, posture guidance, exercise routines, nutritional advice, sleep recommendations, and stress management techniques.

Rob Mason
Rob has offered personal training and fitness evaluations for multiple clubs and gyms since 1984, and owned a personal training facility since 2001. His services include certified Level 3 Active Release Therapy, Rock Tape fascial movement taping, assisted stretching, personalized fitness, strengthening and stretching programs, rehabilitation programs, Pulse Electro Magnetic Therapy, Body Tempering, and Graston Technique.During assisted stretching sessions, he conducts a personalized assessment to identify specific muscle restrictions and limited ranges of motion. Active Release Technique (ART) is a non-invasive manual therapy utilized to target soft tissue restrictions causing pain and mobility issues. This technique breaks down scar tissue and adhesions, enhancing overall body function by increasing flexibility and reducing pain and stiffness. The Graston Technique, employed by two-thirds of professional sports teams in the NFL, NBA, and MLB, involves instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. This non-surgical approach benefits various connective tissues throughout the body, interrupting the pain cycle and scar tissue formation. Ultimately, it enhances soft tissue flexibility and range of motion, yielding successful outcomes in relieving discomfort and improving movement.

Barbara Mason
Co-owner of Firm Body Fitness, a center focused on personal fitness and training, Barbara has also been a Pilates instructor since 2003 and a Myofascial Stretch Therapist since 2005. With certification as a Massage Therapist specializing in deep tissue massage since 1991, she also holds expertise in Fascial Movement Rock Taping. Her background includes majoring in dance at Indiana University and training at the School of American Ballet in NYC. Since 1984, she has been actively involved in New York City's dance scene, participating in various performances while also working and auditioning for dance opportunities.

Where to Find Us:
We are next door to Ristorante MV and across the street from the Bernardsville library.
There are two buildings in our parking lot, the white house in the front, on the street, and the yellow carriage house in the back. We are in the carriage house in the back.
Our front door is down, around on the left side of the building (you’ll see the dumpster), NOT in the main entrance of the carriage house.
Our Philosophy
Dr. Mastrobattista adheres to the conventional principles of Chiropractic, focusing on the correction of spinal subluxations and structural alignment. In simpler terms, a subluxation refers to a vertebra that is out of alignment, causing interference with nerve impulses to and from the brain. These impulses control various bodily functions, and by eliminating the interference, the body may enhance its ability to function optimally and potentially facilitate self-healing.

The Basic Principles of Chiropractic Spinal Analysis And Corrective Care
The spine is looked at bio-mechanically by chiropractors. Like building blocks, any misalignment in one area can also affect other areas. Some start at the top and work down, others start at the pelvis and work up.
When a bone in the spine misaligns by tilting, twisting or compressing out of its proper position, trouble can occur. For one, an uneven pressure is put on the disc which over time can cause damage to the disc-like a slipped, bulging or herniated disc. The discs are tough cushioning pads in between the vertebra, made up of a gel-like center surrounded by strands of fibrous connective tissue. Secondly, a "pinched" nerve can result.
Vertebra can misalign from cumulative effects of minor stressors or injuries, or from one major injury. Most of these misalignments the body can correct on its own, but when it cannot, the bone becomes "locked" out of position. Research has shown that this "hypo-mobility" or locking of the joint, leads to degeneration- grinding away, arthritis, damage being done to the disc, cartilage or connective tissue surrounding that joint- in a very short time. If not corrected, this definitely will lead to permanent joint damage and possible fusion. Once in this stage, you are out of the chiropractor's realm of care and we will be forced refer you out to a medical professional.
This condition of misalignment, when it effects the related nerves, is what Chiropractors call a SUBLUXATION. Misalignment and edema (swelling) can irritate and inflame the nearby nerves and you can end up with a problem at that area or in whatever organ that nerve supplies.
The ability to identify and correct these subluxations are what chiropractors are experts in. We put together the information we get from the consultation and health history, the examination, the x-ray findings, and at times other testing procedures, to find the cause of your problem.
Once this information is gathered, a program of correction can be initiated to restore the spine to its normal state, or to get as much correction out of it as possible.
The time it takes to achieve such correction is based on a few factors-
